In response to Mayor Celso Regencia’s call to provide support to the agricultural sector in the city of Iligan, three mobile rice mills were turned over to Brgy. Rogongon today, June 4, during the flag ceremony at the Anahaw Amphitheatre in Buhanginan Hills.
According to City Councilor Eric Capitan, the chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, whenever the farmers get their harvest, they still need to go to Manticao, Misamis Oriental to have the rice grains milled. With the new mobile rice mills, milling the grains can now be made possible without having to go down to the city proper and travel to another municipality.
The three mills have a total cost of P3,000,000.00, each costing one million pesos. Moreover, Councilor Capitan also shared that aside from Brgy. Rogongon, the Department of Agriculture also granted an allocation for the farmers of Brgy. Digkilaan.
During the turnover ceremony, Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz gave a blessing to the rice mill and, with the City Councilors who were present, handed over the key to Capt. Pogoy, the barangay captain of Rogongon.
