The Iligan City Health Office, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Iligan under the Committee on Health and Sanitation, commemorated the 35th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial last Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Iligan City Plaza.
The event sought to advocate people living with HIV to live healthily and with dignity. It also aimed to break down the barriers of stigma and discrimination, and give hope to those who have been affected by the global HIV epidemic.
The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial was graced by local city officials, while Councilor Belinda “Doc Bunz” Lim, the Chairman of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, delivered an inspiring message through a prepared video.
This momentous event helps strengthen our actions in fighting the growing trend of unsafe sex and raising awareness about its consequences. It also encourages everyone to be involved in every step we take in building a better and healthier society and teaches us that despite the difficulties, we must learn to become resilient.
